PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Offered at U.S. based resorts and Corporate Headquarters the College Internship Program is an immersion program offering participants work experience in one specific department within a resort.  Interns will participate in the following activities; comprehensive onboarding, operational duties within their assigned department, eLearning, and virtual meetings with company leaders, job shadowing, and a business case project. 


The College Internship Program is designed to last 3-6 months depending upon the participant's availability and the needs of the property.  The participants should expect to work a full time schedule in this program.  All College Internships are paid at an hourly wage.

The Corporate College Internship Program is available in the following departments and is located at our Corporate Headquarters in Orlando, Florida:

  • Finance & Accounting
    This internship is a position that may spend time at both the corporate offices and at select Orlando Resort(s). During the time period, the intern will have the opportunity to meet accounting leaders at the corporate offices, and possibly shadow accounting leadership at the site. The intern will be responsible for special project related to the Resorts.
    Preferred Experience: Microsoft Office
    College Degree:  Business Administration/Finance & Accounting
  • Marketing & Sales 
    Marketing & Sales - Recruiting
    Intern will assist with project management support for our Marketing & Sales recruiting team.  Support the team with internal projects as requested; perform research related functions (competitive research); also aid in Social media efforts.
    Preferred Experience: Basic Web Design/Development (HTML5, CSS skills, etc), Microsoft Office, VIZIO, Prezi
    College Degree: Marketing & Sales/Business Administration
    Marketing & Sales - Sales Technology
    Intern will assist the Sales Operations Technology team with information distribution and knowledge management projects, along with assisting in the migration of two extensive Atlassian Confluence Wiki spaces to a SharePoint Online platform.
    Preferred Experience: Basic Web Design/Development, Wiki Mark-up Language (WML), SharePoint Online, O365 Tools
    College Degree: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Digital Media
    Marketing & Sales - Public Relations
    Intern will assist with public relations projects; support Public Relations team with internal projects as requested; perform research related functions (competitive research); also aid in Social media efforts.
    Preferred Experience: Microsoft Office
    College Degree: Junior or Senior in college working on a Communication or Public Relations specific degree.
    Marketing & Sales - Brand Management
    Intern will assist with project management and implementation tactics; support Brand team with internal projects as requested; potentially perform research related functions (competitive research).
    Preferred Experience: Microsoft Office, Prezi, Project Management, Brand Management.
    College Degree: Marketing & Sales/Business Administration
  • iPSM - Preview/Rental Sales
    Intern will assist with project support for Preview & Rental Sales. Preview Segment- Data input & gathering. Develop analysis of marketing package offers & performance. Rental Sales- Specifically Group & Wholesale. Develop analysis of group & wholesale sales against need times. Perform Administrative support and Ad Hoc reporting.
    Preferred Experience: Microsoft Office, Excel, Access Data Base, Prezi
    College Degree: Marketing/Business Administration
  • Resort Operations - Corporate
    Resort Operations - Resort Experience
    Intern will support Resort Operations team on administering and basic (Publisher) design of Food & Beverage and recreation collateral; assist team with internal projects as requested; work in publisher documents; also aid in Social media efforts.
    Preferred Experience: Basic Web Design/Development (HTML5, CSS skills, etc), Microsoft Office, Publisher, Prezi, InDesign
    College Degree: Graphic Design
    Resort Operations - Rooms & Related (Rooms Operations)
    Intern will assist with tactical and project management support for our Marriott Vacation Club Room Operations team; which include displines of Front Office, Housekeeping, Engineering and Guest Technology.  Intern will support team with internal projects as requested; perform research related functions ; also aid in field resort efforts.
    Preferred Experience: Hospitality experience, Microsoft Office
    College Degree: Hospitality/Business Administration
  • Information Technology

            Intern will assist PMO with project support, scheduling, research, analysis and related functions.

  •  Internal Communications - HR

Assist with the electronic newsletters including the Weekly Update and HR Update, support AAW Communications (Photo collection, Sway), Global Wellness Day, CMNH Communications. Help with the change management communications planning for the updated Social Media Guidelines. Support O365 Kickstart sessions, Wave workshops, transitioning to PoliteMail, and providing communications planning support for the New Hire Orientation.
Preferred Experience: Office 365/2016, Basic Sharepoint skills, Dreamweaver
College Degree: Communications (or related field) or Hospitality Management

JOB SUMMARY
Participants will be expected to learn and preform the job duties of the position(s) within their assigned department.  Interns may also be involved in department projects.

Participants will also learn components of what drives Guest Satisfaction and Associate Engagement on site will have opportunities to contribute to these important matters. Interns will be introduced to and have the opportunity to demonstrate the company's values and core beliefs. 

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education

  • Candidate should be pursuing a college degree.
  • It is preferred that the candidate is actively pursuing a degree in Hospitality or Business.  Candidates who have an undecided major may also be considered.

Experience

  • Prior Hospitality or Corporate experience preferred.
  • Past Interns who are interested in completing an additional internship will be considered first.  Previous performance rating will be taken into consideration.

Standards of Dress & Grooming

  • All interns must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance per Marriott Vacations Worldwide Corporation Policy HR-EMP-19 Standards of Appearance.
  • All interns for whom a uniform has been provided must wear the appropriate uniform.  Uniforms must be neat and clean at all times. Alterations to uniforms are allowed only if prior approval has been obtained from a supervisor/manager. Missing buttons should be replaced and tears or holes repaired before the uniform is worn.
  • Non-uniformed interns should dress with good business taste and in clothing appropriate to their jobs.  Good business taste does not include blue jeans, shorts, spandex pants, tank tops, midriffs, halter tops, or other generally recognized casual sportswear.  Dress or skirt length should be no shorter than four inches above the knee.  All interns must wear proper undergarments. Corporate office interns must adhere to policy EMP-20 Corporate Office Business Dress Guidelines.
